Dr. Paul
Veterinarian
Dr. Amarpaul Basra graduated as a veterinarian in 2017. He worked abroad as a small animal veterinarian before relocating to California. He comes from a family of veterinarians that inspired him to choose the veterinary field and pursue his passion to help animals and care for all walks of life. Dr. Paul’s professional interests include emergency medicine and surgery.
In his spare time Dr. Paul enjoys the gym, outdoor adventures, tennis, and spending quality time with his wife and dog, Ranjha. He loves to travel, explore new places and follow sports, especially the San Francisco 49ers.
Dr. Theda Parker
Veterinarian
Dr. Theda Parker has aspired to be a veterinarian since her childhood in kindergarten. Raised in a small town in Nebraska, she pursued their undergraduate education in Utah and later completed vet school at Washington State University.
Her professional interests lie in preventative medicine, surgery, and cardiology.
In her spare time, she enjoys painting, watching movies, spending time outdoors, and traveling. At home, she shares her space with two cats named Grey and Pascual, along with their partner, who is also a veterinarian.
Dr. James Young
Veterinarian
Dr James F. Young is a 1995 graduate of the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. He is a long-time resident of the Sacramento region, and his career includes working in both general practice and having extensive experience in emergency medicine. He has served in leadership roles as a volunteer and advisor for several non-profit animal welfare organizations. Dr Young is also a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, with a professional focus on improving delivery of care and bringing innovation to veterinary medicine.
Outside of work, he enjoys running, golf, and traveling.

Dr. Herrgesell, DVM, DACVR
Veterinary Consultant, Board Certified Radiologist
Dr. Herrgesell is a second-generation veterinarian who completed his doctor of veterinary medicine and radiology training at the University of California, Davis. He has served on the faculty at UC Davis for 8 years as a lecturer and clinical radiologist.
He is well known on the national continuing education circuit for radiology and ultrasound training, and in 2005, he was awarded the Norden Distinguished Teaching Award at UC Davis. He continues to speak internationally on topics related to small animal radiology and ultrasound.
Dr. Dimock, DVM, DACVR
Veterinary Consultant, Board Certified Radiologist
Dr. Dimock graduated with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from University of Californiam Davis in 2006. She went on to practice at a clinic in Bend, Oregon before returning to Davis in 2008 to complete the board certification exam and residency, becoming a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Radiology in 2011. She joined Veterinary Medical Imaging at that time.
Professionally Dr. Dimock takes a special interest in abdomina ultrasound, advanced imaging (CT and MRI), and equine imaging. Outside of work, Dr. Dimock enjoys traveling, hiking with her dog, and caring for her small goat herd.
Dr. Long, DVM, DACVR
Dr. Long attended California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, where he concentrated in animal sciences and biology. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Davis, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in veterinary sciences. Dr. Long received his doctor of veterinary medicine degree from UC Davis in 1994.
Following veterinary school, Dr. Long completed a mixed animal internship in medicine and surgery at the Country Veterinary Clinic in Live Oak, California. He then completed a 4-year residency program in radiology at UC Davis, leading to board certification as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Radiology. For 5 years he was a clinical instructor at the UCD Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital.
Dr. MacKie
Dr. MacKie received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Washington State University in 2005. Following graduation, he completed a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at VCA Sacramento Animal Medical Group in Sacramento, California. After his internship, he moved to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to complete his residency training in Cardiology from 2006-2009. During his time there, Dr. MacKie helped implement the use of the Amplatz Canine Ductal Occluder for non-invasive treatment of a congenital heart disease, authored a paper on the use of an implantable ECG monitor for the evaluation of fainting in dogs, and assisted in prospective research on pulmonary hypertension and cardiac biomarkers.
His clinical interests include, but are not limited to clinical cardiology such as echocardiography and electrocardiography (ECG), pulmonary hypertension in dogs, syncope (fainting) associated with heart disease and arrhythmias, congenital heart disease, arrhythmias, and congestive heart failure (CHF). His goal in therapy for your pets is to maintain an exceptional quality of life for his patients with heart disease.
Dr. Vida, DVM, DACVS
Dr. Vida is a graduate of the University of California at Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. He completed a small animal medical and surgical internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital in San Diego, CA before returning to UC Davis to complete a residency in small animal surgery. He then worked as a clinical instructor in the surgery department at UC Davis before entering private practice in the Sacramento area. Dr. Vida’s special interests cruciate ligament disease (TPLO, CBLO, Arthrex TightRope system), limb deformities, vascular anomalies, oncologic surgery and minimally invasive surgery such as arthroscopy, thoracoscopy and laparoscopy.
During his free time, Dr. Vida enjoys almost all outdoor activities including running, biking, skiing, hiking, kayaking and scuba. He is particularly attached to his 200 gallon reef tank and spends as much time as possible with his wife, kids and pets.

Rae Ann
Practice Manager
Working on a farm and a therapeutic riding center at a young age, Rae Ann decided that she wanted to help animals.
Rae Ann has been in the veterinary industry for 27 years and has carried various roles from veterinary technician to leadership. She spent most of her career working in emergency medicine, surgery, and taking care of critical patients.
After completing her bachelors in business administration she knew her focus was to work in a practice that strived to educate clients to help their pets avoid those emergency type situations.
She has fostered hundreds of animals in her lifetime but now is a permanent home to 2 dogs and 2 tortoises. She enjoys going to the lake with her family and paddle boarding.
Jean, RVT VDT
Registered Veterinary Technician
Jean RVT VDT, has been at Cherry Creek Veterinary Hospital since 1996. She graduated from Western Career College in 1996 and has completed additional training in veterinary dentistry. She has three daughters and grandchildren. She has owned dogs, cats, goats, chickens and turkeys. Jean is very involved with the local 4H club and FFA. In her spare time she enjoys camping and fishing.
Dawn, RVT
Registered Veterinary Technician
Dawn's passion for the veterinary field ignited at the age of 14, although she initially pursued other career paths. Realizing that no other job resonated with her soul like being a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), she returned to the veterinary industry in 2014. During her RVT rotation, Dawn worked at Cherry Creek Veterinary Hospital and became a valued team member in 2017. She has a remarkable talent for providing comfort and support to clients and their pets during difficult times. Outside of work, Dawn's greatest joy is being a devoted mother to her son, Sonny. Their home is also shared with an incredible cat named Nico, who brings them endless love and companionship.
Katlyn, RVT
Registered Veterinary Technician
Katlyn is a valued member of our team at Cherry Creek, working as one of our skilled RVTs. With her wealth of experience and a heart full of kindness, she is dedicated to providing excellent care to our patients and offering support to our clients. Katlyn is enthusiastic about learning more in the field of dentistry and finds joy in assisting patients to feel comfortable during their visits. She spends her free time taking care of her dog Roy, who has a special heart condition, and her horse, Walter. She also tends to her mini-farm and grows vegetables, which she shares with her team at Cherry Creek Veterinary Hospital.

Registered Veterinary Technician
Andrea is a skilled and compassionate registered veterinary technician with six years of experience in the field. She started her journey as a Customer Service Representative (CSR) while pursuing her certification to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. Driven by a desire to save lives, Andrea discovered her true passion in urgent care. Outside of work, she enjoys caring for her two dogs, gardening, and hiking. With a deep love for animals, Andrea aspires to one day open her own animal rescue.

Stephanie boasts a decade of experience in the veterinary care industry and has been an integral member of the Cherry Creek family for three years. In addition to her role as a staff trainer, she is an amazing advocate for our patients. Stephanie is pursuing her dream of becoming a veterinarian, driven by her passion for learning and imparting knowledge to others. At home, she cherishes her cats and dog, with her senior kitty Kiwi holding a special place in her heart. Stephanie's experiences caring for Kiwi, who has multiple special needs, has transformed her into an ambassador for senior pets and a valuable resource for clients who share the same commitment to their furry companions.

For the past two years, Breanna has been working as a veterinary assistant while completing her Bachelor's degree in Animal Science at Chico State. Her passion for animals and her commitment to their health and well-being drive her enthusiasm for veterinary medicine. Breanna finds great satisfaction in working closely with animals, providing medical care, and supporting their welfare. Her ultimate goal is to become a veterinarian.

Austin is a seasoned veterinary assistant with 16 years of experience, recognized for his dedication, compassion, and a natural ability to connect with both animals and their owners. His friendly demeanor and quick adaptability have made him a valuable asset in the field. Austin’s passion for animal care is evident in the joy he finds in helping animals heal, and the rewarding moments in his work continually fuel his motivation. At home, he and his wife Rachael share their lives with a diverse group of pets, including three cats—Catsu Onyo, Strider, and Olivia Benson—a ball python named Virgil, a box turtle called Michel, and three chickens named Bubbles, Aries, and Ciri.

Carol has been at Cherry Creek Veterinary Hospital since it opened in November of 1994. She graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Biology. She has always owned a dog and enjoys camping, hiking, and baking. She also enjoys ringing handbells and has gone on 7 international tours with the Bel Tempo Handbell Choir. Carol's friendly smile and welcoming demeanor have made her a pillar in our client relationships. She has developed numerous great connections with our clients over the years, and her knowledge of the history of our hospital and building is invaluable in maintaining and strengthening these relationships.

Jenn started at Cherry Creek in 2023 and has been in the veterinary field for 14 years fulfilling many roles including CSR, Lead, and Manager. She has a strong love for animals because of their ability to unconditionally love a person, and believes that if more people were like animals that we would live in a wonderful world. Jenn enjoys camping or going to the beach with her family and friends. She looks forward to many years with Cherry Creek and her wonderful co-workers.

Veterinary Assisstant
Meet Jose, an indispensable member of our team for the past six months, working as a veterinary assistant. His journey into veterinary medicine began in high school when he was persuaded to take a career technical education class in animal science. After completing two years of study and earning his veterinary assisting certificate, Jose landed a job at a general practice and exotic animal hospital through his internship, where he honed his skills for two years. Seeking to move closer to home and continue developing his expertise, Jose joined us and has been a natural fit. His calming presence helps both clients and their pets feel at ease. Often found hugging his patients or sitting on the floor to give them affection before and after treatments, Jose’s dedication and compassion make him a vital asset to our team.

Mona has been working in the Veterinary field since 2000 from Exotics, Emergency Vet, and to Ophthalmology. Her furry family members include 3 cats named Xena, Lucy, and Alex. One of the reasons Mona continues to return to veterinary care is because she loves the field, people, and co-workers who make it rewarding to work with animals.
Mona spends her free time with family and friends enjoying a good BBQ, trips to Santa Cruz, and the beach.
